The real cost

How much does it really cost to get funded? Fees × attempts, computed

Facts checked October 22, 2026

The price on the sales page is the price of one attempt. The cost of getting funded is the ticket multiplied by the attempts the published rates imply — plus the fees that arrive after the pass. This page does that multiplication for the tracked dataset.

The formula (and why nobody prints it)

Expected attempts = 1 ÷ the funded rate. At the FPFX base rate of 14%, that is about 7.1 attempts. Expected fees to funded = attempts × the fee. Expected fees per buyer ever paid = fee ÷ 6.3% (14% × 45%). Firms and affiliates quote the ticket; the product is the series.

Worked examples from the dataset

ProgramTicketExpected fees to fundedPer buyer ever paid
FTMO 2-Step, 100K€540≈ €3,860≈ €7,700
FTMO 2-Step, 10K (same rules)€89≈ €636≈ €1,270
Topstep Combine, 50K (firm's own rates)$49/mo≈ $1,024 incl. $149 activation≈ $2,630
Earn2Trade Gauntlet, 50K (firm's own rates)$170/mo≈ $5,737≈ $31,900

Subscription programs are modelled as 3-month runs; activation fees are added once, on the passing attempt. Rates are the FPFX base rates except where a firm publishes its own — the Earn2Trade row is what a firm's honest denominator does to the same formula.

The fees after the fee

Activation fees ($130–$260 across the futures firms) arrive after the pass. Resets are a second product line: Take Profit Trader's PRO resets run to $1,499 at the largest size. And the average total spend reported by buyers who eventually pass is about $4,270 across ~3 attempts and ~2.2 firms — the series, again, is the product.
