The rules that void payouts

Why prop firm payouts get denied: the pre-purchase edition

Facts checked October 22, 2026

Payout-denial advice is usually written after the denial. This page is the same catalogue, reordered by the only moment it can save you money: before the purchase.

Discretion. FTMO's terms (clauses 7.3–7.9) allow the firm, at its own discretion, to void trades and forfeit rewards it deems gambling-like, with no compensation. Post-hoc rules: in August 2026, Blue Guardian denied a payout under a previously unannounced "Windfall Strategy Rule" after a ~$7–10K day on an account advertised with no consistency rule; the CEO reversed it the same day, after backlash, and paid. You cannot check for a rule that does not exist yet. You can only refuse to concentrate your whole plan in one firm's discretion — small sizes, screenshot the rulebook at purchase, and treat the first payout, not the pass, as the finish line.

The family · CheckBeforeDeposit

A payout is only real when it leaves the firm

The challenge is only half the deposit question. CheckBeforeDeposit computes your country × broker pair: which entity would hold your money, what your own regulator says about the platform, and whether money that goes in can come out — check the deposit side first.

Before you pay, take the whole walkthrough

The verdict gives you the expected cost and the rule that applies to you. The Challenge Odds Kit gives you, program by program, the before-you-buy checklist, the style-versus-rules worksheets, the expected-cost workbook, and the payout-protection playbook: how to never hand a firm the excuse to refuse your payout.
